Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder that we don’t know much about. Why? First of all it is not a deadly disease nor is it a condition that will lead into something very fatal. Because it is not at all urgent for researchers to study it, it is still relatively unknown. For one thing, researchers are still unsure about its real cause, although there are possible explanations behind it.

One thing is sure, though. That is, one’s diet plays a big part in the severity of IBS. Because of this, IBS patients are often advised to include certain food groups in their diet and exclude certain ones. For example, they should not eat fatty food because fat makes the digestive tract work longer and thus, can lead the patient to so much pain later. Another thing they should avoid is alcohol. Others include caffeine, grape juice, apple juice and broccoli.

Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, are harmless to the stomach. Soluble fiber acts a stabilizer which means it is healthy for the digestion. Fruits and vegetables are sources of soluble fiber, although not each of them is good for you. Soluble fiber supplements can help in case you are lacking in this nutrient. In case you are not sure whether or not some food is going to deteriorate your IBS symptom, it is better not to eat it at all. After all, why risk for something later?

So, knowing this, you should want to dig deeper about IBS. The internet is a good resource. Here are the guidelines you should remember and apply when searching for information regarding IBS.

1. Web encyclopedias – These types of websites give you information on almost everything in great, fine detail. This means that if you are finding information on irritable bowel syndrome online, then you should visit them. This is true since they are designed to be easily understood by the public.

2. Support groups – There are websites in the internet that are formed by people who have experience with irritable bowel syndrome. By visiting sites such as these, you will be able to gain information including the different treatments available to those with IBS online.

Additionally, these support groups offer information such as how to deal with irritable bowel syndrome, a wide range of tips on preventing the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and others.

3. Medical information sites – There are sites specializing in the discussion of IBS and how to treat it. In this type of website, you will be able to find out the latest developments in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. A user can also learn the many ways how to diagnose IBS.

4. Product sites – There are different products online from books to capsules that claim to be able to help reduce the symptoms of IBS. The web sites of these products often contain information on how exactly irritable bowel syndrome occurs and what their product can do to stop the symptoms. By looking for information on irritable bowel syndrome online using this type of site, you should be able to familiarize just what components are needed to have a healthy digestive system.

Getting the best IBS help online is not that hard. Just search on the internet and have patience browsing from one site to another.

Why do a large portion of people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) complain of disorders which can be referred to as extra intestinal symptoms such as rashes, headaches, and muscular pains? Findings from research have established that around 60% of IBS patients also have Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). Conversely, around 70% of FMS patients also have complained of IBS symptoms. Is their a relationship between these two conditions and what is the connection between both of these? There have been a number of studies in various parts of the world to establish this connection.

Fibromyalgia is a functional disorder which affects the musculoskeletal system, which is related to such complaints as general muscular aches, stiffness, fatigue, and poor sleeping habits, with varied conditions of severity and duration; the pain may be dull or stabbing like, intermitted or constantly lingering. This is recognized as a functional disorder similar to IBS. An estimated 3.35% females and 5% males suffer from FMS.

Now to find out whether there is a connection between these two conditions of IBS-FMS, especially in the wake of co-existence of IBS and FM in a number of people. Going by statistics we should say that there is possibilities of both have a connection. The similarities between these two conditions, beyond the fact that IBS confines to the gastrointestinal tract while FMS to the musculoskeletal system, have to be considered. Both of them are not organic diseases; since they are construed as functional disorders. In both the cases it is the women who suffer from these conditions very often, and when it sets in it is considered a very stressful period. Both the conditions are prescribed with Cognitive behavior therapy and certain types of prescription drugs.

Both type of patients, as per studies; respond to pain in a very different manner, than other persons without these conditions. IBS sufferers seem to have a different response to the intestinal pain, while FMS condition throws up another type of response to skin and muscle pain. Studies have also in expected manner shown that people having both these symptoms have a different kind of response to both kinds of pain.

Though the studies point out to a common mechanism for both the conditions, their origins are still shrouded in mystery. In fact medical fraternity has very recently recognized both IBS and FMS as functional disorders with some legitimacy and not as psychosomatic problems. Since studies on these conditions are still in their primary phase, and studied connecting both have been sparse researchers will hopefully take renewed interest in establishing the connection between IBS and FMS.

Herbal Remedies Have Come a Long Way in Effectively Treating Physical Conditions, IBS is No Exception

Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS, is not only an embarrassing inconvenience, but in many cases can be so severe that it becomes painful and dangerous to the future health of your bowels and colon. So, what can you do to control and even cure your IBS naturally, and return to a carefree, regular existence? A complete herbal remedy for IBS is a great start.

IBS comes in many forms. In most cases it manifests in uncontrollable, unpredictable, and sudden urges to evacuate the bowels. The stool of a person suffering symptoms of irritable bowel tends to be inconsistent in that it jumps from hard to pass (constipation), and painfully sudden and watery and cramp-inducing (diarrhea). Some people with the condition will experience either constant constipation with occasional bouts of “relief” in the form of diarrhea, and yet other experience a constant state of runny stool, cramping and excessive water loss.

As you can imagine, either of these types of IBS can definitely cramp your lifestyle and cause a lot of discomfort. Not only that, the condition can many times lead to serious health implications for the colon such as colon polyps and even colon cancer.

What an Herbal Remedy for IBS Can Do for You

1.) Colon Cleansing – An herbal remedy for IBS should come with a colon cleanser. Colon cleansing is an absolute necessity if you want to restore regularity and comfort to your life. A good colon cleanser will cleanse away toxic and stagnant substances from your colon that may have literally been polluting your digestive and waste system for years. You can see why the colon cleanser is vital to any herbal treament of IBS.

Herbs are one of the best ways to naturally cleanse the colon, since they do not cause any side effects and will not build up and add toxins to your colon as many chemical formulas will do.

2.) Active Cultures or Probiotics – Probiotics, acidophilus or active cultures (as you see in some yogurts), are absolute essentials within your digestive tract. These flora help to kill off harmful bacteria and toxins, as well as to tone and repair the colon allowing for smooth evacuation and comfort.

3.) Herbs Which Target Parasites Responsible for IBS and Colon Problems – The killing of harmful parasites that may inhabit your digestive tract and cause further difficulties with IBS is also an absolute necessity in your chosen herbal IBS remedy. Without this, you are only targeting part of the problem and not addressing each potential aggravator of the condition.

If you want to use herbal or natural supplementation as a part of your overall strategy for getting and staying regular, it’s important to look for something that not only addresses and corrects the issue of regularity, but also helps to cleanse and repair the digestive and waste tracts that have no doubt suffered damage over the years from IBS-induced difficulties.

This way, you can regulate your body and repair years of damage at the same time. And you won’t believe how good you’ll feel.

What is the main IBS cause? Many people would like to find that out, since IBS is a disorder that brings too much discomfort and pain despite the fact that it is not really fatal. But first, let’s give you a brief background on IBS.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder which is not often talked about because of its nature. But there are a lot of people who have been suffering from this condition because of their problems with the digestive system. Here are some information you should know about it.

IBS has many symptoms like diarrhea and constipation, but it has other symptoms as well, like flatulence and intestinal gas.

While there is a common pattern for most patients, still the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome vary from patients to patients.

Constipation is one of the symptoms of IBS, in which a patient is in great pain while releasing his stool, along with mucus. Mucus is a fluid lubricant which helps ease the passage of bowels from the large intestines.

Diarrhea is another symptom of IBS. It is characterized by the urgency to release stool many times during the day. The person with diarrhea has watery stool and is quite lumpy.

Many think IBS is caused by the presence of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, while others agree it is due to the reaction of certain food groups which cause stresses.

Others state that this is mainly caused by the efficiency of the immune system.

Persons with this condition are known to have irregular movement of the large colon. This is referred to as spasmodic but some show temporary cessation of intestinal movement.

IBS is frequently associated with bacterial infection located in the gastrointestinal tract. Researchers observed that individuals with gastroenteritis have more risks of also developing IBS.

As a result of having IBS, patients are vulnerable to depression and anxiety.

Other people projected a connection with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and celiac disease, which is the inability of a person to digest gluten, a substance in barley and wheat and helps in the coagulation of bread. When you have this disease, your small intestines are affected by their inability to digest it.

For female sufferers, however, discoveries have suggested that many have worsened symptoms during their menstrual period.

There are plenty of diseases and afflictions that many people have, but irritable bowel syndrome and iritis are two disorders that can cause severe pain for anyone who has them. Irritable bowel syndrome mainly affects the bowels and bowel habits, while iritis is more associated with the inflammation of the eye.

One of the reasons that these two disorders can be severe and painful to those who have them is because they can often be misdiagnosed or completely missed altogether.

Nevertheless, thousands of people suffer from these 2 diseases each day. Fortunately, though, there are some great relief options for those who are inflicted with this. Here is some more information about these two disorders, though, and what some of the treatment options are. Even though there are hardly any shared symptoms between irritable bowel syndrome and iritis because they are two different disorders, many of the symptoms center on great pain in both of the areas that are afflicted.

For starters, irritable bowel syndrome causes pain with the bowels, often provoking diarrhea, constipation, and terrible abdominal pain. In fact, one of the greatest indicators of this disorder is the abdominal pain, which is why it’s so important to indicate that symptom to the doctor.

On the other hand, since iritis is involved with inflammation of the iris part of the eye then one of the obvious symptoms and signs associated with this disorder is pain in the eye. There can be various degrees of pain also associated with iritis, but the pain mainly affects the eye whenever light is exposed to it.

The next issue that is important to cover concerning irritable bowel syndrome and iritis is the different treatment options. When you discover or think you might have one of these diseases then it’s always best to speak to your doctor first before using any treatment methods. But if you do have a confirmed case of ibs and iritis then there are some important options your doctor will pose to you.

First, iritis treatment will often involve a series of eye drops which will decrease the swelling and inflammation in your eye. Chances are that your physician will also prescribe a medication for the pain at least until the swelling in your eye is down.

On the other hand, ibs has a different type of medication, especially since this disorder is often chronic and sticks with those who discover that they have it. Laxatives are definitely an option with irritable bowel syndrome but chances are that your doctor will not keep you on this type of medication for long.

Other types of medication that will help irritable bowel syndrome, though, include Tegaserod, Alosetron, and Cilansetron. On the other hand, one of the major components of treatment for irritable bowel syndrome is focusing on your diet to include more fruits, vegetables, and an overall healthy lifestyle plan.

All of these treatment methods are great for helping individuals afflicted with both of these diseases. As mentioned, these two diseases are very serious to those who have them, and if you think that you are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and iritis then it would be best to be checked out by a doctor.

All in all, though, irritable bowel syndrome and iritis do have important treatment options and these options can significantly reduce the symptoms and pain that is felt with both irritable bowel syndrome and iritis.

There are many IBS remedies you can take to ease your condition, and one of them is by taking an IBS medication which either relieves symptoms like constipation and diarrhea, or prevents your digestive tract from working too hard. So, while there are many IBS drugs to take, there cannot be one single best IBS medication out there, because IBS is related with so many symptoms, so therefore you can only take the medicines which are best suited for the warning signs you are suffering from.

But what are the most reliable IBS medications you can take?

1. Antispasmodic medicines. They keep the digestive tract from being overworked, which might otherwise lead to spasms.

2. Anti-diarrhea medicines. This IBS medicine is recommended for those who have IBS with diarrhea.

3. Antidepressants. They very effective for controlling IBS symptoms especially when taken in small doses. There are also new types of medications that are especially made for patients who do not react favorably with the aforementioned medicines.

4. Zelnorm drug. This is the only prescription drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of women suffering from IBS with constipation. It works by speeding up the stooling process.

How does Zelnorm speed up the digestive process?

Serotonin is a chemical naturally produced to facilitate in the digestion process. A common cause of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation is a slow digestive tract. This may be due to a low level of Serotonin in your body. The drug Zelnorm relieves irritable bowel syndrome with constipation by acting like Serotonin. Additionally, it works by helping to coordinate the muscles in the digestive tract, in order for it to digest the food much faster.

You should just pick which IBS medication works best for you. But before you do that, consult your doctor to see if the IBS drugs available are good enough to cure your condition.

If this pain or discomfort lasts for around 12 weeks (even if it is non-consecutive) in a period of 12 months then it is an indication of IBS.

As abdominal pain may be caused by a number of other disorders, so one should not jump to conclusions immediately. Remember that the pain caused by IBS is relieved by a bowel movement, and the color of the stool also changes.

Some IBS patients suffer from constipation, while others may have diarrhea. As IBS affects colon movements so either it becomes very difficult to pass the stool, or the colon spasms push the stool too fast. Many patients suffer from alternating diarrhea and constipation. Bloating is another common symptom of IBS. It refers to the building up of gas in intestines. The result is that the patient feels pressure in his or her abdomen.

There are certain mental and emotional symptoms associated with IBS. The patients suffering from IBS often experience depression, anxiety, insomnia and panic. However, this does not mean that IBS is a psychiatric problem.

The latest research has re-emphasized the fact that there is a strong relation between the gut and the brain, as both of them have a number of common chemical messengers. So a disturbance in the function of one is likely to affect the function of other. Thus, certain mental symptoms are associated with IBS. If you experience a sudden change in the frequency of stools that continues over a long period of time, then it is time to go to your doctor and get yourself checked for a stomach disorder; it may be IBS.

Although there is no permanent cure for IBS, there are numerous ways to relieve the symptoms, such as making changes in the diet, religiously following any medication advised, regular exercising, and identifying stress factors and releasing stress.

Before embarking on a treatment plan, some prescribed tests are first conducted on a patient to eliminate the possibility of any other disease. Further tests are undertaken to determine whether the patient is really suffering from IBS or not. These include sigmoidoscopy, biopsy, colonoscopy, stool testing and X-ray of the bowels. It is only after establishing the existence of IBS beyond any doubt that the physician can formally start the treatment.

There are two medicines, clinically tested and approved, that are available for treating IBS. These are Lotronex and Zelnorm. However, being symptom specific, they do not make for a very viable medication. Drugs such as antidepressants and antispasmodics are sometimes recommended by the physicians.

There is a wide range of self-help techniques available. IBS patients have at their disposal a specially designed self-hypnosis program for carrying out hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy has a high rate of success and helps in reducing tension and anxiety. Gut-directed or gut-specific hypnotherapy is also available. Yoga is another way of relieving tension. It is a widely accepted fact that yoga helps to fight depression that often accompanies IBS. In fact, there are specific yoga postures that assist in digestion.

There is direct link between sleep and IBS symptoms. Thus it is important for an IBS patient to have a good night’s sleep. Stress management therapies can ensure a relaxed sleep at night. Acupuncture is also being recognized as an efficient means to handle IBS symptoms. However, it should only be carried out by a professional and is something that should not be done by amateurs.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), more common in developed countries like the U.S. and the U.K., is a nervous system disorder that affects the bowels (specifically the large intestine, which is responsible for absorption of water and excretion of solid waste).

IBS is a disorder that affects the normal functioning of the body. It does not, however, harm the bowel or cause any other disease. Rather, it is a syndrome or a set of symptoms. In simple terms, it is a malfunction in the interaction between the intestines, the brain and the autonomic nervous system, which affects the bowel movement. IBS is diagnosed and treated by gastroenterologists, who are physicians that specialize in dealing with diseases or disorders affecting the intestines, stomach and associated organs.

IBS can be caused by a disturbance in the functioning of the colon, which is the lower part of the large intestine and connects the small intestine with the rectum and the anus. The colon absorbs the water, nutrients and salt from the partially digested food that enters from the small intestine. It is the contractions of the colon that lead to a bowel movement. In some people, the colon is more sensitive and reacts strongly to certain foods and sometimes to stress. However, while stress may not directly lead to IBS, it can definitely trigger and intensify the symptoms. In fact, researchers have established a direct link between emotional stress and IBS-related symptoms. Studies also indicate that IBS is often preceded by a severe bout of gastroenteritis.

It has been estimated that one out of every five adults in U.S. suffers from this disorder. IBS can develop at any age, but it is more common in the 15- to 40-year-old age group. Often, patients are embarrassed to approach a physician for treatment. It helps to remember that IBS is a common disorder that affects approximately 10 to 20 percent of the population and the best way to cure it is to receive treatment as soon as possible.

Sex and Colon Cleansing: How One Affects the Other

Are you constipated? Are you feeling a little withdrawn from your partner because of your constipation? Learn why a colon cleanse may be just what you need to clean up your act and get your love life back in gear.

Are you constipated and feeling a little uninterested in the bedroom? Does the thought of sex send your mind thinking about the bloated and sick feeling in your stomach? It’s no surprise that when you’re not feeling healthy, many of life’s joys can be left behind, and in many cases, it’s the sex drive that goes. We’re going to look at how a colon cleanse may be just what you need to clean up your act and get your love life back in gear.

When you’re constipated, there are many things going on inside your body that you may have no idea of. For example, if you’re not moving your bowels in a proper fashion, it can lead to a build-up of toxins that get re-absorbed into the bloodstream. As the toxins rush throughout your body, they send your systems into a frenzy. Your body is fighting the toxins so hard that other functions just can’t be handled. What happens is your immune system lowers, your digestive system is already wrecked and your sex drive suffers.

How to tell if You are Constipated

At any time, over 4 million Americans are suffering from Constipation. To say it’s almost epidemic is an understatement! And those are the ones actually going to the doctor for it, not the people simply using over-the-counter treatments. What’s important to know is that you can be having bowel movements and still be diagnosed with constipation.

If you have two or less bowel movements in a week, you can be classified as constipated. If you have to strain, or have incomplete bowel movements 25% of the time you go, you are constipated. Likewise, if you experience black, small, hard and pebble-like stools, or thin pencil-sized stools, you’re constipated.

It’s important to understand that constipation is usually derivative of an underlying cause. It can be something as simple as an improper diet or as severe as diabetes. You need to be aware that you don’t get constipated for no reason. Blood sugar levels, diseases like diabetes and medications can all affect your digestive system in a negative way. These same reasons can also be adding to your sexual problems.

Study results show that people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are over 4 times higher at risk to experience sexual health problems. Decreased sex drive was the most common complaint, and women were noted as experiencing pain during intercourse. It was also shown that the problems surfaced twice as much with constipation patients compared to diarrhea patients. Also, the worse the IBS, the lower the sex drive.

How to Get the Drive Back

Cleaning your colon can get rid of all the sludge and grime that is backing your system up and causing your libido to nosedive. It’s been proven that the average person has accumulated between 5 and 25 pounds of pure waste in the colon. Waste that never leaves. It just sits in there, putrefying. Right off the bat, imagine how much better you would feel if you cleansed 25 pounds of garbage out of your body!

Did you know that over 90% of all illness can be directly traced back to a dirty colon? The colon is where 70% of the body’s immune system does its work. If the colon is filled, the immune system is lacking and you’re getting sick. How much better would it be if your colon was clean and your immune system could fight the organisms it’s meant to fight instead of dealing with the toxins in your body?

Products like Oxy-Powder work wonders, effectively cleaning out the colon and getting rid of numerous years worth of build-up. Oxy-Powder’s powerful, yet gentle formula uses a combination of oxygenated magnesium, germanium and citric acid to naturally cleanse and detoxify your colon. It even promotes a healthy environment that allows good bacteria to flourish and aid in digestion.

With Oxy-Powder, you’ll notice a difference both inside and out. You’ll feel lighter, cleaner and simply healthier than ever on the inside. On the outside, you’ll have a much more vibrant look, a clearer complexion and your energy will be noticed by everyone. Your body is like a self-servicing machine. It has the ability to heal itself and avoid many illnesses, but that’s only if it’s healthy enough to do it. Removing the toxins from your body will allow it to work the way it’s supposed to.

Adding a proper exercise routine and changing your diet to include more fiber and water will help maintenance your clean, new system. A good diet should include 25 to 35 grams of fiber per day. Most Americans only get about 15 grams if they’re lucky. That adjustment alone can work wonders for your digestive system. A colon cleanse may be just the spark you need to re-ignite your life. You can say goodbye to constipation and hello to your partner again, in the bedroom!
